Heavenly Raw Chocolate Mousse

I had some avocados that were on their way out, so what is a girl to do? Make raw chocolate mousse! A reader really wanted me to share the recipe, so here it is! And it’s so easy to make! Happy Friday!

This is a chocolaty dessert that you don’t have to feel guilty for eating! Avocados make the base for this mousse instead of heart-clogging butter, cream and eggs. We use raw cacao which is chocolate in its natural unprocessed state.

Heavenly Raw Chocolate Mousse

12 dates, soaked for 2 hours and pitted or 1 cup maple syrup
2 ripe avocados, pitted
1/3 cup raw cacao powder
1 teaspoon vanilla flavor
Pinch of sea salt
5 strawberries, sliced

Directions:
First blend dates in a food processor until they become a paste adding a touch of the soaking water if necessary. Scoop out avocado meat with a spoon and add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor except the berries. Blend until smooth. Be sure to scrap the edges of the bowl a few times to incorporate everything. Taste and add maple syrup if you want it sweeter.

Serve in a martini glass with sliced strawberries on top.

P.S. You can add protein powder to take this up a notch!

  1. this was so good and my 18 month old loved it! I did add a frozen banana though, because i wanted it a bit sweeter and didn’t have maple syrup.

    1. This makes 2 servings, if you wanted to share. I don’t do nutritional stats and I never will. When you eat the Blissful Bites way you do not need to count calories. I’m not a fan of counting calories and I hope people will move away from that and just eat a whole foods plant-based diet. Avocado is a good whole food fat and this is a dessert, so it’s a treat.

  3. No decent strawberries this time of year.

Would some thawed dark sweet cherries do?  Mmm… chocolate-covered cherries…  🙂

  4. Will regular unsweetened cocoa powder do? I have it sitting in my pantry and definitely want to make this as I love avocados, AND chocolate,of course!

    1. I think that would work fine! You might actually need less sweetener since raw cacao is much more bitter. Give it a try!
